Yes, I admit I am angry. And why am I angry? The reason is there are many people who have decided to put saltwater crocodiles before<\/u> humans and people are being hurt.<\/p>
People are being killed by saltwater crocodiles.\u00a0<\/span>You can look at what is wrong in two different ways:<\/span><\/p>
First, simply that the places that I enjoyed so much in the sixties, those places where I swam, fished, and hunted are no longer safe. In fact, due to the presence of saltwater crocodiles these places are now extremely dangerous to the point where the slightest misadventure could be fatal.<\/p>
Second, and a hell of a lot more serious is that a considerable number of people believe that the life of a saltwater crocodile is worth more than the life of a young girl, or a teenage boy, or some hapless tourist. For their own, and very different reasons, these people believe that human beings have less value than a giant killing machine, for that is what a large saltwater crocodile really is.<\/p>
That is not right!<\/p>

Of course, there were no swamp boats and we were deep in that water, almost up to our armpits in that green water. Some say that it is more exciting today, but I will pass, thanks.<\/figcaption>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

1962. When I was a boy growing up in Darwin, N.T. there was no real danger from freshwater crocodiles and almost no saltwater crocodiles. We camped where we wanted to camp, we walked in swamps and we slept on the beaches. We did so without fear. With the exception of a few places, we went into the water as and when we pleased, without any concern for our safety. It was a wonderful life.<\/p>
My real experiences began when I met Harold Harmer, who was born and bred in Darwin. Harold\u2019s family had the first taxi in Darwin. My first sighting of Harold and his brother Norman was at Buffalo Creek. I saw them swimming in the creek at the same time my eyes took in the dead 3 metre saltwater crocodile on the bank. I thought, “Crazy bastards!” Little did I know that Harold would become one of my best friends.\u00a0 We had some great times and by today\u2019s standards we were a bit extreme, I guess. But that\u2019s the way it was.<\/p>
With Harold\u2019s encouragement I hunted barefoot in ancient swamps and dark steamy jungles. I remember that in 1963 we hunted in Black Jungle Swamp where the thick green water was so deep that it reached my chest. It was ominous. Snakes slithered through the canopy and huge spiders dropped from above. When wading through the deep water we had to place our bare feet carefully in the thick mud because there were spiky leaves ,fallen from pandanus trees, but there was no thought of monsters.<\/p>
No, the idea that a huge saltwater crocodile would suddenly lunge from nowhere and kill us did not even enter our heads.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
Sad to say, the situation has drastically changed in the Northern Territory. I can tell you without fear of contradiction that it has vastly altered<\/u> in this specific location. Check the list of Attacks. Go back to the year 2009 to find something very sad. I think that is much more than sad that an 11-year-old girl was killed by a saltwater crocodile in that very same jungle. Children are not safe.<\/p>

People are being attacked by both freshwater crocodiles and saltwater crocodiles. People are being killed by the saltwater crocodiles. This is not a “once every now and then” thing. It is a regular occurrence.<\/p>
Why is it happening? Who decides that men, women, and children can be killed and eaten?<\/p>
