Military. They served us – Darwin N.T.

Military. Servicemen who joined up in Darwin pop up often, rather like Crocodile attacks.

I don’t know them all.

NOTE: This post was a copy of the original material on the SERVICES PAGE. I do not update this page but more information is located on LINK Missing Military – N.T. all Services.

Some of them were from an earlier era, while others happened upon the scene after I had departed from Darwin and or the Australian Regular Army.

I don’t think that Ted was in the Military, but that doesn’t matter. You see, I often get some help from a well-known Darwin identity and local historian Ted Whiteaker.

Ted with big Jewfish.

I have known Ted since our first year at Darwin High School. I am very happy to say that he has been a great friend for many years, since 1963, in fact.

This photo shows Ted and a fish, of which he has caught many. But in this photo Ted had been out fishing with my brother Bryan and also Tony Franklin.

I have done that too. Last time I went fishing with them we caught over 600 Kg, mainly Jewies and Golden Snapper. Hard work that.

Anyway, after my hard yakka I scooted over to Seven Spirit Bay, the resort that is, went close to crashing into a Banteng on the way in to land,

THEN!!

Found to my dismay that they, poor souls, had run out of seafood. I immediately noticed that some of the five-star guests looked a bit down in the mouth, at least, up until I offered to share my 20 mud crabs. Course, I couldn’t eat’em all, could I?

Back to my theme for today.

Some of what I call the Missing Military. If you are you, then sing out and say hello, old mates of Old Darwin.

ON ANOTHER NOTE. BIG FISH CAUGHT BY CLARK FAMILY

This is a groper caught by my Dad, Stuart Clark, back in the early sixties.

I am in the process of re-writing my Dad’s life story. He only wrote 30 pages, but I reckon it is a bit short. I could add that he thought I was verbose, mainly because I could out-talk him.

Anyway, the story is now four chapters done.

It was a great story but now has more detail, a lot of photos, and some in-depth stuff on feelings within families, something my Dad found hard to talk about…………………..

see it on my author site…………………THE LINK TO THE BOOK – A WORK IN PROGRESS.
