Tom Cole was an interesting man. Well, the thing is, for all those interested in the Territory and other parts of the Top End of Aussie, well then, you see that very well-known croc and buff hunter wrote about this true story. Not many people now about it. So I say to you…………….

TOM COLE STORIES AND MINE.

There are a lot of great stories. “Hell, West, and Crooked,” by Tom Cole RIP is one of them. In it, Tom tells this story. He only gives it a few pages, but it is a great story.

The only thing is that his version does not stack up to the published facts. My article goes to the heart of this. The big question is, “Who is right?”

What I mean is, that both versions cannot be true.

TOM COLE, RIGHT OR NOT?

For example. Who is this guy?

Maybe Ted Whelan

Or how about Edward Wieland?

Philip Ward?

Or maybe every single one of them.

TOM COLE KNEW WHO HE REALLY WAS.

Yep! Tom Cole knew him and Tom wrote about him. This bloke had more aliases than anyone that I have heard of in all my days. But he came out good in the end.

There is more about stamp collecting. Doesn’t sound much does it? But it is if the right fellow takes it up as his hobby. Read for yourself.

Besides there is a lot more to this and I intend to cover this in future articles.
