CROC VICTIM – THE HORROR
Croc victims are getting more common. We hear about crocodiles and crocodile bites, but unless you are the victim, unless the victim is close to you, or unless you are a participant in the attack, you have no real idea of what it means.
CROC VICTIM AND THE DAMAGE.
There is the physical damage, the germs from the croc’s teeth invade your body, and the horror of it all will likely stay with you forever, So there is psychological trauma as well.
Let us take one incident. We can go over the attack bit by bit, or bite by bite if you will, but there is nothing funny in this. It is horrific, with terrible wounds, and significant damage to the poor victim.

First imagine the attack.
Go on! Don’t be scared – you are only imaging this huge beast coming right at you. It cannot hurt you as it is only a photo.

The beast is upon you. You smell the awful, stinking breath at the same time you feel those iron gates of hell slamming shut on your body. In this case, the teeth took a finger. In your case, it might be a hand, an arm, a leg, or a life.
O.K. Only a finger. ……………………… But that is not all. Not by a long shot.

Imagine, if you will, those great teeth smashing down on your frail body. Frail?
Yes.
Even a strong man is no match for the power and fury of a large crocodile.

In hospital, the poor man is lucky to survive. Both legs dislocated, a finger lost forever, gaping wounds, bacteria, and 14 operations.
CROC VICTIM AND SURVIVAL.
We are lucky to survive long enough to face the surgeon. Very fortunate if we can be stitched up like an old rag doll. So blessed if the filth of the crocodile’s mouth deposits less than the usual host of bacteria.
And so lucky that the drugs fight the germs, so happy to see that after 14 operations we can contemplate some sort of active life again.

Not all are so lucky.
Some victims are killed. Killed stone dead by the crocodile.
Even if you live? Your life may not be the same. You may not walk, and functions may be affected.
This is not a thing to be put aside or forgotten.

How do you feel? It has happened to many people. It is happening regularly. Overall, this is likely to get worse as we see more crocodiles and bigger crocodiles. Is all of this O.K by you?
Maybe you think that, at least, it is not you. Perhaps you live in a big city and have never seen a big crocodile in the wild. Maybe you would not want to see one – especially up close!
